Three

Dear Kelsie,
(aka: Kelsinator, Sugar Plum, Pumpkin, Honey Pie Pony & Sister Bear)

Is it ok if I still call you my baby? No??? I know, lately you get so mad if I call you my baby and insist that you’re a big girl. The only time I can get away with calling you my baby is when we’re playing pretend- and you reply with goo-goo-ga-ga-lady-gaga. And then we both laugh hysterically. How is it that you’ve gotten so big and so old so fast? I swear when you’re a mom time goes by at super speed. I just try to savor every moment I can because I know the next day you’ll be doing or saying something new. You’ve even started calling me mom and not momma. Here’s an average conversation between us: you’ll say “mom?” and I’ll say “what?” and then you’ll say “um mom?” and I’ll say “what Kels?” and then you’ll say “mom?” again. You get the idea. This could go on all day. Sometimes I think your mind is going so fast and your mouth can’t quite keep up. No wonder you still sleep so well at nap time & night time. Here are some other common phrases you say lately: “You know better than that.” “Happy Morning.” “You break my heart.” “That’s stupid.” “For heaven sake” “I just want you be happy.” “You scared da crap out of me.” “I just having a moment.”
You crack me up on a regular basis. I love how you already think you know better than me. You’re a pro at naming almost every animal. You even know koala, flamingo & possum. The biggest one we’re having difficulty with is a walrus. Every time I say walrus, you correct me and say it’s a walmart. You also have a hard time figuring out the difference between a seagull and an eagle. You can sing your abc’s pretty well although a lot of the letters are mumbled together. Your favorite colors are brown, black and sometimes orange. They are always you first pick crayon choices. Here are more of your current favorites.
Songs: Tarzan soundtrack (Phil Collins), Single Ladies (Beyonce), Just The Way You Are (Bruno Mars), Dynamite (Taio Cruz), all Black Eyed Peas & Lady Gaga, and pretty much any thing you can twirl, shake and dance to.
TV/Movies: Angellina Ballerina, Wonder Pets, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Phineus & Ferb, Dora/Diego, Beauty & The Beast, Tarzan, Robin Hood, Finding Nemo, Ice Age, Happy Feet, Tinkerbell & Bolt.
You LOVE to cut paper (& pretend cut hair, etc) and could do it for hours! It always makes your daddy so nervous to see you with scissors but he’s getting better because you’re so good at it. I have to vacuum just about every night because there are usually little tiny paper pieces every where!
You are very protective of your big cousin Kailee. You hate it when she cries and will give in to her every time. You have such a big heart and always just want every one to be happy. For the most part you two do an excellent job of sharing and taking turns and I’m so proud of you for that! You are VERY focused and have an intense one track mind but also frustrate very easily. We’ve been working on calming down in the moment and saying “help please” but it’s not working very well. It takes every thing inside of me not to laugh when you throw a major tantrum and stomp your foot on the floor. You are a very picky eater! The only things you will eat are: chicken nuggets, soup, pizza, mac & cheese & peanut butter. You love almost every fruit but scream at the site of a vegetable. You love to check yourself out in the mirror. My favorite is when you see your reflection in the oven window. The faces you make are priceless. I love how much you’ve been pretending lately and how your voice goes up 5 octaves when your talking for your barbies. I love how fearless and free you are. You’ve always been my monkey climber girl. Lately you scale the outside of the stairs but then get stuck at the top and need help getting down. Please promise me you’ll never fall. I love your personality and sense of humor. I love how life cracks you up and how happy you always are. Here’s to another fun year full of adventure & learning. Happy birthday my Big Girl!
Love U!!!
Mom

Big Girl BED

Maybe spoiled is the right word for it. Kelsie's big girl bed isn't just a regular ol bed. Its a loft bed. And the even better news is... she loves it! Duh! What kid wouldn't? It makes me wanna be that age again. Ok, I confess, I have climbed up there a time or two and have played underneath with her numerous times already. Yes, she has a TV under there and a bazillion toys. Plus Grammy rigged up a curtain so its like a tent play area. SO COOL! Here's Kels helping Gram sew the curtain...
The best news? She still sleeps perfectly! Yes she can climb up and down the ladder by herself but willingly chooses to stay up there at bed time. Yeay!!!
The bad news? Kailee was over playing the other day and her and Kels were watching a movie and playing barbies under the bed. Kelsie literally helped/pushed me out of her room because I was too big to play and hang out. Oh man!!! :(

Christmas

Christmas was so great. That little girl of mine is so stinking spoiled. Check out all the presents. I think even she was a little overwhelmed. Some of the things she got were: lala loopsy doll, coco puppy, giggles computer game, memory & chutes and ladder board games, little critter books, DVDs, shelf organizers, and ... a big girl bed!!! But one of her very favorite gifts was a barbie fishing pole from her daddy.
After all that, we opened presents. Yes, there were more...

Then we went over to Brittany's to do Christmas morning there. Brittany was able to pick Kailee up from her dad's at 1:00 so we waited in the car for her.
Kailee's reaction in this picture is priceless. I guess she got just what she was wanting. :)

Rudolph

Larry, Jerry & Suzy all took Kels to meet Rudolph. She came home and told me how hungry he was and that he was getting ready to fly Santa's sleigh. Cute!!! These pics were taken at Steph's house. We had a family Christmas party/get together there. I'm note sure where the girls found these antlers (maybe they were broody & boomers) but I think they wore them all night.Josh came at the end- just as we were getting ready to go. The girls & me love our Joshua!!

CRIB

Why can't kids just stay little forever??? Here comes another emotional post (beware, there's still more to come). I realize I am SO lucky because I have the BEST sleeper baby in the whole world. For the first 6-7 months of her life, she slept right next to me- as in on my arm and head to head. We grew quite the bond. Then came our "snowbird week". The beds there are smaller than mine at home and I worried about her falling so we tried a play pen. I remember being so affected by it and obviously she slept WAY better than me that night. I'm pretty sure I checked on her 50 times each hour. :) After that "week" I decided it was time. I had bought the most gorgeous crib and had her room perfect before she was even born. Then the only thing that room got used for was a space to store her 5 million clothes and onesies.
Fast forward a couple years... Now she's almost 3 and I'm sadly realizing that she's getting too big for her crib. Here's the thing, SHE LOVES IT! Every night I let her snuggle downstairs on the couch. Then I say "K, Kels its bedtime" and she responds with "I want to walk up myself". Seriously, what kid does that?!?!! She's never argued about bedtime. She's got so big that she's figured out how to push a chair up to the crib rail and swing her foot over so she can climb in herself in yet she's never tried to climb out. And then there's morning time... Most kids cry when they wake up or yell out for someone to come get them. Not my Kelsie. I swear she could stay in bed forever! 100% of the time, I have to go in there and see if she wants to get up yet. I have a monitor in my room so that I can hear her. Sometimes she tells stories. She has quite the imagination and talks to herself A LOT! Then other times she's just in there snuggling with all her blankets & just having Kelsie time. Now with the promptings of her mom & dad, she's been asking for a big girl bed for Christmas. I know its time but I'm nervous-yet-anxious and mostly in denial that with a big girl bed comes a big girl.

Here's a look back. This video was taken in September 2008. Not only is it proof of the 5 million clothes but also how Kelsie has always loved her space...

I'm gonna need a whole box of tissues now.

Jumping off the couch

This month has been really hard on me. I'm in denial that my baby will soon be 3. Sometimes she's a typical toddler and then sometimes she pulls stuff like this. I did not give her the idea and it freaks me out that she thought of this all on her own. She piled all our blankets and pillows on the floor and JUMPED!!

This was a different day. Kels & Kailee were snuggling. I love this picture. Now that's my baby...

Ward Christmas Party

West Jordan 4th ward is the best ever! We had an amazing Christmas party this year. The food was so delicious! After dinner the primary kids put on an away in the manger sketch. The sunbeams were supposed to be the sheep. There are 5 million sunbeams (Kailee's age) in our ward. Kelsie wasn't a sunbeam yet but since her & Kailee are attached at all times they asked Kels if she wanted to participate. Honestly I would've guessed no but she went right along with it. It was the cutest thing I've ever seen!

They had a spotlight shining on them on the stage. Kels kept yelling "ee to bright!" over and over again. :)

After the sketch, the curtains opened up and Santa appeared. All the kids went running for him. The girls finally got their turn and he asked them what they wanted for Christmas. Kailee asked him for everyone to be happy (or something like that) and Kelsie asked for a candy cane. Here is Kelsie's reindeer bell necklace she made at Gay Gay's.
