Holy HAIR

I've been wanting to write about Kelsie's hair for quite a while now. It amazes me every day. We can't go any where without having a stranger comment on her curls. Both Larry & I have really thick hair and some natural curl. SOME being the key word. Its really nothing compared to Kelsie's head full of ringlets. Some of them are so tight that I can't even slip my pinky finger in it. Here are some pictures of her right out of the tub... I'm not sure what was happening here. I think she knew I was trying to take pictures of her hair and was purposely being a 3 year old rebel.I usually blow it dry a little because I don't want her to get cold at night because she has wet hair. This is what it looks like after I blow it...Sometimes I put lotion in it to help prevent the frizz. I know, lotion sounds weird but it works perfectly. It makes it soft and beautiful and again NOT frizzy. Bonus!! But then she sleeps. This is what it usually looks like when she wakes up in the mornings. Please try to constrain yourself...This is her crying "Its in my eyes. I need a pony tail." Um, Hun, I think you're gonna need more than a pony...
Last weekend I attempted a french braid. Its been a while since I've french braided hair but its kind of like riding a bike. Except that her hair is so curly its like riding a bike over 50 speed bumps in a row. Even after I put the elastic in, her hair was still trying to curl... Don't get me wrong, I LOVE LOVE LOVE her hair but I don't know what to do with it. I'm not used to so much of that curly stuff. Mornings are especially tricky. We wake up so early and have to be out the door by 7:15. Neither one of us like mornings and so I find it especially difficult to plan an extra hour to wet, blowdry & style. Usually she just gets pig tails and by the end of they day curly wispys are are all over her head and trying to be set free. Its awesome. My other dilemma is that Kelsie is now 3 years old and has never had a hair cut. Its not like she has split ends or damaged hair but the thought of ME going 3 years with out a cut makes me wants to die. So what should I do? I guess a little trim wouldn't hurt, right? I just don't understand how hair knows to be curly. Does each strand have its own little brain? Is mystifyingly gorgeous!!

Jammies / Cereal / Moonwalk

If I let her, Kelsie would wear her jammies all day long. I guess I don't blame her. I bought these curious george jammies the other day and she fell in love with them. They are really big but she doesn't care. All her other jammies are too small. I think she's on a growing spurt. I know I've talked about what a picky eater Kels is. We have serious battles over food. The other day I got her a grilled cheese sandwich and she wouldn't even try a bite. A GRILLED CHEESE! I mean seriously! What kid doesn't like grilled cheese sandwiches?!? I finally got her to try a bite but she acted like it was the end of the world. Then she claimed that she liked it but wouldn't try another bite. URG! So then I was feeling bad and wanted her to eat something so I poured her a bowl of cereal. She's had captain crunch MANY times before and likes it but when I checked on her this is what she had done...
It reminds me of this post that was almost exactly 2 years ago (click here) except she did the opposite. Silly girl. I never know what to expect.

I finally got a video of Kelsie doing the moonwalk. She still loves Michael Jackson. One of our favorite weekend activities is watching This Is It. Such a great documentary on what would have been an amazing show!

Its buggin me

Mazee got Kels this dolly&me dress for Christmas. Its big and poofy and beautiful and Kelsie HATES it. She didn't care that her cabbage patch had the same thing on. I think she felt bad her baby had to endure the miseration as well.

Alligator

Kelsie's favorite of all her "friends" is her alligator. I swear for like a whole week he was glued to her hands. He ate with her, slept with her, and even went with her to Gay-Gay's. I think all the other kids got a little jealous and soon every one there had an alligator obsession. Gay had (another) brilliant idea. She found an alligator pattern and cut it out of paper for all the kids to paint. Then she taught them about the difference between alligators and crocodiles. I should have joined the lesson. It was a huge hit and from what I hear the kids request to do it again every day. This is Kelsie's alligator she painted. We might have to keep it forever!!
