Snowbird - Part 5 (activity day pass)

Tuesday we bought all day activity passes and played hard! We rode the tram... This is all the snow still on the back side of the tram. Kels saw all the ski marks in the snow and said "wow, look at all those scribbles".
The girls both jumped on the giant bungee trampolines. Kailee even did a flip once!
We rode the alpine slide probably about 50 times. So fun!!!
Then while the little girls played in the bounce houses, Brittany, Mom & I snuck away and did the zip line and ropes course. We had so much fun that day and luckily the weather was perfect. As we walked back to the lodge we strolled right past a moose yearling.
Shortly after that I looked over at Kels. Her eyes were shut and she kept nodding off (while sitting up in the wagon). I thought she was about to fall out. I helped her lay down and she was out in seconds. This was a little after 6pm and she slept the whole rest of the night after that. I told you we play hard!!!

Snowbird - Part 4 (rock necklaces, gpa bday)

One morning we woke up and hurried downstairs (in out jammies) to do the kids activity. It was to make snowbird canyon rock necklaces. We loved them so much I think we made 15 Later that day Grandpa Hal and Grandma Reva came up to visit. It was Grandpa's 82nd birthday. The girls had a blast playing ball with Grandma & Grandpa. Then we went to a yummy dinner at the Wildflower. After that we went back up to the room for presents and cake!

Snowbird - Part 3 (misc)

Snowbird is perfect for playing... and relaxing! And for spotting baby moose.
It wasn't all fun and games though. Both girls still had to work. Kelsie was the photographer...

and Kailee collected our towels and other supplies from house keeping.
Then after those chores they turned into Doctors and Nurses and fixed Uncle Dustin all better.
See... all better!
Steph, Rachel and Londyn also came up one day to visit. We walked to the outlook.
Londy is still so little but she sure tries to do everything Kels does. Too cute!

Snowbird - Part 2 (4th of July)

I don't even know where to start about our Independence Day. It was INSANE! First of all, there was still so much snow up there. I think all of Utah decided to do the same thing and ski/board at the Bird in July. Kels, Kailee and I all sat on the balcony still in our jammies watching all the madness below. The parking lot filled up quickly and there were shuttle buses constantly bringing people up. This is the view from where we were sitting. See all the skiers walking... My mom even saw someone drive up in a red convertible with the top down packed full of snowboarders.
Every year Snowbird has a big 4th of July breakfast over at the Center. Usually its pretty mellow. Add in all the skiers and boarders to that and I don't know that I've ever seen that many people up there. There was a band playing and everyone was just happy.
Even the tram was dressed up for the occasion. (Look at all the people crammed in there.)
Most of the snow was at the top of the tram and along the backside of the mountain. Here is a pic of Kels. The snow at some places was up to her waist. It was perfect shorts - yet jacket weather.
This is a picture of the front page of the Salt Lake Tribune on July 5th. I think they sold like 3100 ski/tram passes that day. They were selling t-shirts that said something like I skied on July 4th and they were sold out by early afternoon. I'm telling you, it was chaos. i'm sure we're actually in that picture somewhere... Somehow we even managed to make it on Fox 13 news. HAHA

Snowbird - Part 1 (swimming)

We finally made it to SNOWBIRD baby and couldn't be more excited!!! I know I say this every year but seriously this was probably my most favorite week up there yet. So fun in fact that I'm going to do 6 or 7 different posts. Our first priority was... swimming!!! We even took a swimming lesson from Miss Barbara. She used a baby doll for her example.
Kels got pretty daring which is HUGE. Normally she screams if even a drip of water is on her face. She dared to jump to me without her floaty on.
Kailee on the other hand is actually part mermaid. By the end of the lesson, she was diving underwater for the stick toys.

I thought carnivals were supposed to be fun...

The West Jordan fair/carnival had potential to be fun. There were tons of rides, booths, food, all the typical fair stuff and because we went early in the day there were no lines. We got excited and bought a million tickets. The girls chose to ride this car ride very first:As Kelsie was getting off, she sat down on the metal to slide off and apparently it had been in the sun and burnt her leg really bad. I was trying to get through the gate to get to her and she was just screaming. It broke my heart. Stupid ride (fill in major cuss words here)!!! I was going to take her right home but she cried even harder because she still wanted to ride the horses. We ended up taking her to the first aid booth. Bless their hearts but they did no good! They gave us an ice pack that for 1 never got cold and 2 she wouldn't even let us touch her leg. URG! Burns are awful and I was so upset for her. We tried to still have fun after that but it was tricky. :( Yes, I still let her ride the pony but she was super careful with her leg and I don't think she even smiled once. We were all able to ride the ferris wheel and got a few smiles here:The best was the tidal wave. Kels was actually giggling here even though her face shows differently. Honest. I think it was a mixture of I'm scared... no wait this is fun... no wait... this is freaky and I'm having a blast! I'm not going to post any pictures of her leg. Its a vision I'd rather forget. We went home right after and put Burn Free on her leg. She cried at first but that stuff seriously works miracles. I don't think its sold in stores but everyone should own a bottle. Even though the marks stayed on Kelsie's leg for a good couple weeks after, she never complained about it hurting.

These pictures were taken before the carnival. This is one of my favorite outfits that Kelsie has and she even wore the bandanna. She looked so super cute, as always!
