Easter Projects

She just turned 17

We had a swing set growing up and we spent many hours playing on it. I do believe that kids spend too much time in front of the TV these days. We're guilty of it too. We love our Disney movies. Now that we've had a couple of really nice spring days I've been getting antsy to spend more time outside. So I spent some of my tax return on... you'll never guess... a swing set! Larry was nice enough to come over and build it. The girls were so excited and they kept playing on it even before he was finished.

It is much nicer than our old piece of crap that was half broken and only fun for babies.
As Larry was finishing up, along came "the boys" and on 4 wheelers none the less. My swing set was no longer exciting and Kelsie turned 17 years old right before my very eyes. I kind of wanted to cry but at the same time it was pretty cute and I struggled with mixed emotions. Someone save me!

The "boys"

Urg. Kels & Kailee have made friends with the neighbor kids. Kels calls them "the boys". I know its awful but I don't like them. For no reason other than they are boys. I do have a brother and I love him very much but I'm a lot older than him. I was a teenager and all caught up in myself when he was this age. Boys are CRAZY! They fight and wrestle and scream and are very physical. These neighbor boys tackle each other in the street and fight with pretend guns. Yep, its true and I find myself being disgusted and judgemental. Thank goodness I had a girl. I'm afraid I would be a terrible mom to a boy. Ok, that's probably not true but its weird to imagine. This was the first day that the girls begged to go play with the boys. I sent them out with sidewalk chalk and then stocked them with my eagle eye through the window the whole time. After a while they got sick of the sidewalk chalk. That's when the girls decided to pick my flowers. Usually I try to discourage that but this particular day, I couldn't have been more proud.
Then Kailee measured how tall Kels is on the tree. Yes, I was laughing out loud, inside, all by myself. So super cute!!!
After all that busy playing they smelled like summer time kids so I got them both in the tubby. Kelsie's hair is so thick and it takes forever to air dry (sounds familiar) so I usually blow it dry. I think what I love the most about this picture is that their legs are crossed over each other and they are both in the same pose.
